Unit Plan Reflection
After submitting my unit plan for feedback, I was very thankful for all the help and reviews on this. My unit was based towards an introduction to plant science course. Thankfully, I had help on the unit idea and its many activities. Overall, I believe this lesson would be very fun to teach to my future students and I believe they would enjoy learning it as well.
A major point of feedback I received was that multi day lessons can be difficult. After reviewing my lessons, I decided not to change this as you could not fit all the content into one class period. Many of the activities would have to be cut and I did not want to do that. I believe if you do a brief reflection at the beginning of the next class on what happened the day before this would not be difficult. It is just essential to make sure the students understand in advance what will be happening.
Having peers review our unit plan was very helpful. They helped me to make positive changes and make things more useful and effective for teaching and for student understanding. It was also very helpful for me to see how my peers set up their unit and even receive tips from their lessons. In the beginning, it was very hard for me to figure out how to set up a unit or what template to use. Thankfully, my peers also helped me with this and I found a way that was useful to me!
Brooke, it is good to see that you found value in the technique of peer review, and that you were able to use the feedback you received to improve your unit plan. To help enhance the elements you describe from your plan, sharing specific examples (objectives, multi-day lesson topics, sources used) could have be useful. Remember, the more detail you can provide, the more your readers can obtain a clear picture and provide you with guided and insightful feedback.
