ACES Conference
February 9 I had the opportunity to pack into a school bus and travel to Harrisburg with the Grand Canyon FFA to attend the ACES conference. I had attended this conference before but as an FFA member. Attending this as an advisor and teacher is a whole different level and I loved it! One part of this trip that I thought was extra great was going to lunch with all the students in Harrisburg. When we arrived at the hotel, Mrs. B, the students and myself walked to the plaza and all enjoyed burgers together! It was so simple but it gave me an awesome opportunity to have more bonding time in a casual setting with my FFA members. I believe this is why being an agriculture teacher is the best. We receive the opportunities such as these ones to better connect with our students. These relationships can help us to excel our students in the classroom.
While the members were rotating
through workshops, I sat in on a professional development workshop on a curriculum program. In the evening, we again got the opportunity to mingle with other advisors and members. One of my favorite parts of the evening was room checks. Myself and Mrs. B checked all students into their rooms for the night and while doing so they each told us about their days or something fun or humorous that occurred in their workshops. This again was a great opportunity to connect with our students. After the closing remarks of the conference, we headed home with a fun stop to Bass Shops! I am glad I had this opportunity to connect with our FFA members and watch them grow during this conference.
