Mid Winter Convention
In January, I had the awesome opportunity to attend Mid Winter FFA Convention and The Pennsylvania Farm Show. The best part of this trip was I got my first taste of a taking students on a field trip because I attended this with my Wellsboro students! In the morning, before going over to the farm show complex, I attended a soils workshop with my cooperating teacher in the department of agriculture building. Before the workshop, Mrs. B took our square dancers to where they needed to be and gave the students instructions to start touring the farm show. After the workshop, we headed over ourselves to check out the farm show and do a check in with our students. A big highlight of the day was our local representative, Clint Owlett, was also in attendance and wanted to do a large group picture with all the school districts he represents. We gathered our students to do this before the convention started. During convention, Grand Canyon FFA members participated in receiving keystone degrees and receiving their first corduroy jackets.

This was my first time attending a major convention as a student teacher. I knew before but this experience really opened my eyes about just how much work FFA advisors do even outside of school! Our photo opportunity with the representative was totally a last minute plan. So quickly while all other things are going on Mrs. B was trying to make all the arrangements to get all seven schools scheduled together for this great opportunity. There were many of these last minute plans going on, on top of all the planning that took place to even be able to bring all 37 of our kids to Harrisburg! This experience watching the seniors get the achievement they have worked so hard for and watching the excitement of the freshmen zipping up their jackets for the first time is one I will definitely remember.
