That's A Wrap
Today is my last day as a student teacher! I truly cannot believe how fast this semester went! I am so extremely glad to done but I really am going to miss my students.
This week was a little crazy as it is the week before Christmas AND we had a snow day in the middle of the week. I am honestly surprised how well the students are still engaging in class and not acting as wild as I expected them to be.
This semester of student teaching has had so many pros and cons! My absolute favorite part of this experience has by far been the relationships. Students are awesome! I know I have had bad days and days of teaching that just not go well but these kids were always great. I did not think they would barely notice my leaving but so many of them went out of their way to say bye to me, give me cards or gifts and even let me know that they will miss me and joking about me staying. It absolutely melted my heart when I received a card from one of my students saying my teaching style was not anywhere close to the ordinary she has had but she has loved it and my future students are lucky to have me. I could have cried reading that! Then, one of my other students said she loved that she felt welcome in the classroom and loved being part of a class where she knew we would always be laughing. This meant so much to me! I know I have a long way to go to be a good and experienced teacher but knowing that I impacted just a few students makes all the hard times this semester totally worth it. I am not quite sure where or what I want to teach in my future career, but these students over the course of this semester definitely made me realize that working with and teaching youth is definitely the career field I want to be in.
I am extremely thankful for all the things I have learned and had the opportunity to experience and practice over this semester at Wellsboro High School. I cannot wait to take all these experiences and memories into my future endeavors.
Addition: I told my students in the beginning of the semester I would hold the snake before I left and they certainly didn't forget I said that! Even though I still think the snakes are gross it was awesome that one of my most shy students decided she was going to show me how and help me hold it!
