The End is in Sight
It is crazy how fast this semester has went! This week after Thanksgiving is a short week. Then, I only have two more weeks left! This week is one to start wrapping things up in some of my classes as they have some exciting projects to be working on before break! Two of my classes will begin their wreath and green making units next week so I need to wrap up the units we have been learning. Thankfully, timing aligned very well and both of these classes will be wrapping up in perfect time. I am excited to have the opportunity to be with them as they are learning about and complete this greens unit as it is an awesome fundraiser to experience and gain knowledge in for a future chapter. It also though will be very exciting seeing the kids spend so much time doing hands on activities.
In my small engines class, I am learning balance. This class has been one of my favorites to be part of this semester and I learned an extreme amount in it about students and small engines! The students in this class are varied greatly. One of my groups disassembled and have it almost completely back together already. They love this hands on part. Yet, another group does not even have their engines dissembled yet. In the beginning, I was nervous about how the timing of the completion of the project would carry out. What does one group do while they wait for the other to finish? This actually worked itself out on its own. The groups are doing a great job working together and helping out some of the slower groups. These boys are super fun and a little crazy but they all work very well together and this definitely is a benefit. Mrs. W also said in a class like this if the timing is varied it gives the quicker groups an opportunity to dive deeper and work on other projects. For example, our speedy group will be testing their skills and gaining more knowledge by having the opportunity to work with another engine and diagnose the problem instead of just taking it apart and putting it back together!
It is hard to start wrapping things up in some classes and still keep pushing kids forward in others but it is super cool to be able to see the next lessons starting and how Mrs. B transfers from one topic to the next.
